An update on our Children’s Drawing and Talking Therapy Group
Over the past six weeks, we have been delighted to run a Drawing and Talking Therapy group for SEND children at the Community Hub. Led by Jill McGrath from Spectrum Services, the sessions created a safe and supportive space for children to explore their emotions, develop self-regulation skills, and express themselves through creative work.
The progress they have made has been remarkable, with many growing in confidence, emotional awareness, and their ability to understand others.
Parents have shared wonderful feedback, with one saying, “He couldn’t wait to come every week, and also learnt a lot about how others feel and react.”
Another parent told us, “He has dealt with conflict at school far better than I expected,” while another added, “It has shown them that it is okay to be in a safe space without a parent — she has grown in confidence.”
Their words highlight just how meaningful and valuable these sessions have been for the children and their families.
